OUR WHY

Mission

Our mission is to be the stage for Appalachia to explore the potential of psychedelics in a responsible and informed manner without proselytizing their use. We aim to provide a space for exploring the study of psychedelics, offering thoughtful integration services for individuals who have experienced positive, negative, and/or challenging outcomes. Through education, coaching, and community-driven events, we support individuals and communities in building bridges between fear and understanding.

We are committed to creating a safe and inclusive environment where the potential of psychedelics is explored with intention and respect, enhancing both personal growth and community cohesion. At APS, we honor the diverse ways people engage with psychedelics and provide the resources necessary to help them integrate their experiences into their lives.

Ethics

At the Appalachian Psychedelic Society (APS), we operate as a non-partisan organization, promoting informed discourse and refraining from endorsing specific political stances.

We recognize that obtaining dependable insights into psychedelic cultures and endeavors is indispensable to building meaningful community bridges and facilitating an educated and open exchange of ideas. Our priority is the safety and well-being of our community, advocating for responsible relationships with psychedelic substances and sacred reciprocity. We work to foster environments that promote physical, emotional, mental, and spiritual safety.

Through these principles, we strive to create a supportive and inclusive space where individuals can engage in respectful dialogue, share knowledge, and build connections.

Vision

We work to promote Appalachians because we are Appalachian.

Appalachian Psychedelic Society champions balanced discourse and cultural respect in exploring psychedelia and indigenous traditions.

Through our flagship offerings of the Appalachian Psychedelic Society Podcast & The Psychedelic South Conference, we gather for informed engagement, career pathways, and community empowerment.

We also conduct regional education tours, online workshops, and collaborative academic research. We are grounded in values of honesty, cognitive freedom, empathy, and enduring viability. We honor elders and ancestral wisdom, striving for reciprocity and humility in life.
